Fitment overview

This Opuladuo 2-piece 18” replacement chain is intended for select Ryobi chainsaws that use an 18-inch bar. Based on the original listing, it is made to fit these Ryobi models: RY3818, RY3818VNM, RY40580, RY40508, RY40508BTL, RY10532, RY43006, ZRRY10532, and RY40HPCW01.

Because chains can vary even within the same bar length, it’s smart to confirm your saw’s chain specs before ordering. An 18-inch bar is the starting point, but it is not the only measurement that matters.

Will this chain fit your saw?

Measuring chain pitch, gauge and drive links

To confirm fitment, check four things on your current chain, guide bar, or owner’s manual:

  • Bar length: This chain is for an 18-inch bar
  • Pitch: Must match your current chain/bar specification
  • Gauge: Must match the thickness required by the bar groove
  • Drive-link count: Must match exactly for proper fit

The product listing confirms compatibility with these Ryobi chainsaw models:

  • RY3818
  • RY3818VNM
  • RY40580
  • RY40508
  • RY40508BTL
  • RY10532
  • RY43006
  • ZRRY10532
  • RY40HPCW01

If your saw is one of the models above, this chain is intended as a replacement option. Still, the safest way to verify is to compare the chain markings or bar stamp on your saw. Many bars list the pitch, gauge, and drive-link count directly on the bar near the mounting end. If those markings are worn off, check the saw’s manual or the original chain packaging.

A quick note on model matching: manufacturers sometimes use different bar/chain combinations across production runs or kit versions. That’s why matching the actual chain spec is better than relying on bar length alone.

The package includes:

  • 2 pcs 18-inch chain for RYOBI chainsaw

Replacing the chain

Fitting the chain onto the bar and sprocket

Before replacing the chain, make sure the saw is fully powered off. For cordless models, remove the battery. For corded or gas-powered units, disconnect the power source or spark plug as appropriate and wear gloves to protect your hands from sharp cutters.

  1. Loosen the side cover
Remove or loosen the clutch/side cover so the bar and old chain can be taken off.

  2. Release chain tension
Back off the chain tensioner to create slack, then lift the old chain off the bar and drive sprocket.

  3. Install the new chain
Place the new chain around the drive sprocket and along the guide bar groove. Make sure the cutter direction is correct; the cutting edges on the top of the bar should face forward toward the bar tip.

  4. Reinstall the bar cover
Put the side cover back on and snug the fasteners without fully tightening them yet.

  5. Set chain tension
Adjust tension until the chain sits in the bar groove all the way around and can still be pulled by hand with a gloved hand. It should snap back into place rather than hang loose.

  6. Final check
Tighten the cover securely, then rotate the chain by hand to confirm smooth movement. Recheck tension after the first few cuts, since a new chain can stretch slightly during break-in.

Keeping it sharp

Sharpening a chainsaw chain cutter

A sharp chain cuts faster, safer, and with less strain on the saw.

  • Keep proper chain tension
A chain that is too loose can derail; too tight can wear the bar and drive components faster.

  • Avoid dirt and ground contact
Even brief contact with soil, rocks, or dirty wood can dull cutters quickly.

  • Maintain bar and chain lubrication
Make sure the saw’s oiling system is working properly and the bar groove/oil holes stay clean.
